Motorcycle Repair: 2008 NIGHSTER, pushrods, lifter

Question
I HAVE A 2008 NIGHTSTER 1200. THE ENGINE SEEMS TO HAVE A TICKIN NOISE. IT GETS LOUDER WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 30 TO 20 MPH. IS THIS NORMAL TO HAVE SUCH TICKIN ON A NEW BIKE. 250 MILES ON IT. IS IT JUST GETTIN BROKE IN?? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Answer
Your ticking noise is probably a lifter. Most harleys have this noise. Its from the valve lash and due to the fact that the pushrods are on the outside of the motor, so you hear it more. Since your bike is under warrenty, you can go back to the dealer and they should change the lifter.
Good luck and happy riding
