Motorcycle Repair: Clutch Plates, clutch springs, clutch plates

Question
Hi, I have a 1997 CR125.  I have had clutch issues for a while now. It just wont grab. All parts are to specs..   Anyway i can either get carbon fibre clutch plates or Kevlar clutch plates...  Which would you recomend.. i am getting mixed responses from everyone i talk to...

Answer
Chris,

-I would go with the carbon fibre for
longer life and daily use.

-The kevlar plates are better for racing where
there is extreme heat and hard use. Also
the plates are changed often.

-Kevlar is very hard and glazes easily so
is not that great for every day use.
It can get noisy if the plates glaze over
and start squealing.

-If you have clutch problems, you may
need to examine the other clutch parts
and make sure it is set up with
some free play to avoid slippage.
Try some new or heavier clutch springs.
Also don't put additives in the oil.
