Motorcycle Repair: yfm200 85 4whlr, time hope, stator

mark, i have a yfm200 1985 4whrl can get it started but once it warms up it stops, wont start again til cold. then starts runs til hot (normal running temp i assume) 5 mins then quits. any help thanks .... dont want to pump lots o money in..

Hi D.D.,
I would look into the Pick up coil, otherwise called the Pulse coil. Many times when they get hot, they will shut down and not send a pulse to the CDI telling when to spark. Unfortunately, many times you are only able to buy the stator AND pulse coil at the same time.
