Motorcycle Repair: Spark issue on Honda VT500C Shadow, honda vt500c, spark plug wires

Question
I have a 1983 Honda VT500C that doesn't run. The Honda has 4 cylinders and 2 ignition coils. When I pull the spark plugs I get intermittent, week spark on one spark plug but none of any other spark plug. Each coil controls 2 spark plugs and each coil has 2 terminals to receive voltage and (of course) 2 spark plug wire outlets and the bolts appear to act as the ground. I am unsure how to test the coils or the spark plug wires and I have heard that it is rare that they ever go bad. (especially both at the same time.)

I pulled out the coils to make sure that the distributor (or like) was feeding the coils. I discovered 12.6v at all 4 terminals unless I was starting it - then it would cycle on and off. So, it appears to be working correctly. I also cleaned the corrosion from the coil's terminals and cleaned the grounding bolts with no luck.

I've had many automech university classes including automotive electrical and engine rebuilding. I also own a Fluke multimeter for testing so please be as technical as you want.

Thanks for your help

Answer
As basic as it sounds, check the resistance on the spark plug wires that are KNOWN GOOD. Check the others accoring to your findings and if the resistance is considerably different, the wires are bad. I know this sounds incredibly basic, however most commonly overlooked.

Hope this helps!
