Motorcycle Repair: Kawasaki power problem, kawasaki zzr600, electronic control units

Question
I have a Kawasaki zzr600 and the i laid it down just at 15 mph.  It slid 20 feet but when i got back on it and tried to ride it, gears 2-6 will not be allowed to go over 6000rpm. I dont know what is going on. Can you help me and how much is this going to cost and is it even worth it?

Answer
I would certainly be looking in the area of the electronic control units, you also have the K Tric on that don't you, throttle response ignition control? Although it wasn't such a heavy fall, I reckon it's been enough to screw up a sensor, they are pretty delicate in most cases. The most logical step is to get it hooked up to a computer analysis at a shop, shouldn't be too expensive, trying to pinpoint a sensor failure is going to be impossible without it, although in the case of the K Tric, it is possible to disconnect it,it's on the right hand side of carbs, I think, is that the side the bike went down on? of course there are a number of sensors that could be to blame. as to the cost of fixing it, well, depends on what the analysis throws up, but all in all it's not going to be horrendous. Is it worth it, definitely.
