Motorcycle Repair: 1987 FZ 700 Engine Cuts Out Problem, mile road trip, battery cables

Question
The carbs were completely diassembled and professionally cleaned ten miles ago. a Guy was paid to fix the charging system. i thought it needed a voltage regulator? anyhow, I told him it ran roughly and then died, so he cleaned the carbs and replaced the battery.. the bike ran beautifully until the new battery died in the middle of a corner.

When i start it up and it rans great, until you take the cables off..

i want to take this bike on a 2000 mile road trip. any ideas about how to check or fix this problem? would you say that this is an easy fix?

thanks for your help!

Answer
well, for starters, most motorcycles are not designed to run without the battery cables connected. So if the bike dies out because the cables are removed, This is why. 2nd, does the corner have something to do with the bike dieing? To A technician, we only need relivant info, because thats what that comment leads me to believe. Your bike sounds fine as long as you leave the cables on the battery.
