Motorcycle Repair: Electical Problem- Yamaha Dt250, acid level, dead battery

Question
Hey there. I have a 1974 Yamaha Dt250. I have just recently replace the
lighting coil, but I'm still having an issue with horn not working etc... Anyways
I tested the voltage on the battery while it was running and it was showing
about 8 volts (which sounded pretty good to me since it's a 6v system). When
my good charged battery is in the horn doesn't seem like it's getting enough
power and the light is dimmer. When the dead battery is in (low acid level) the
horn worked great. I'm wondering if this is a sign that I need a new rectifier
or if somthing else is needing to be replaced. Thanks for you help!

Answer
theres a good chance that from the "odd" voltages being run through your system, it may have fried the horn, otherwise in the same respect of ODD voltages high and low, you may have just popped the fuse for the horn...Check that and see what you come up with..

Hope this helps!
