Motorcycle Repair: 754 HONDA 1974, assistance bill, small drain

Question
HOW DO YOU RE DO THE OIL IM THE FROUNT FORKS. ?
THEY DONT LEAK, NO BAD SEALS. JUST NEED'S OIL REDONE. SOMETIMES THEY STICK. OR THEY GET HARD, I GRAB THE FROUNT BRAKE AND PULL BACK THAT USUALY FIXES IT , UNTIL I USE THE BRAKE TO HARD. ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE THANK YOU. STEVE

Answer
Steve, the small drain plugs on the bottom of the fork sliders let the oil out. Put the bike on the centerstand, if it has one and/or prop it up, so the forks are not weighted. You need 135-140cc of ATF or good quality medium weight fork oil to refill.

To refill, you have to remove the big nut from the top of the fork assy. This is SPRING LOADED, so you have to remove it carefully, then use a big socket/ratchet to reinstall the nut, by compressing the fork spring, as you turn the nut back into the top of the fork tube.

If your forks are sticking, they are either bent, out of alignment or have NO oil in them at all! FIX ASAP!
