Question
i have had this bike since i was a little boy and parked it when i bought a new one any way about a year later we tried to start it and couldnt so we just let it sit because we had the newer one any way i just recently took this bike out of the shed and cleaned it up and got it running again and after a while of running it would shut off like you hit the kill switch checked the fuel tank for trash and other odds and ends and eventually it would start back up with same results after a while of riding now i have absolutely no spark to the plug at all after tring several new plugs we traced all the wiring and found no problems i think i have narrowed it down to the coil or cdi box is there any way to test these items or could it be something else all together

Answer
Chris,
try checking the magneto or flywheel for rust,
if it has been sitting the magnets on the flywheel
could be corroded. Then check the stator condition while the flywheel is off. It could be the trigger/pulse coil,
The CDI unit is best checked by trying another working unit.  Unfortunately I have no specs to give you
for checking these coils, see if your Honda dealer
will help or get a shop manual.
