Motorcycle Repair: 1981 CT70 Carb, jet spring, ct70

Question
I took the engine off a 1981 CT70 so I could have the frame painted.  Now the bike is back together and it starts, but the problem is it's stuck on full throttle. The throttle cable linkage works but it's stuck on full.

When I removed engine, I disconnected the carb from the cable by unscrewing the cap where the throttle cable goes into the top of the carb. Then I removed cap/jet/spring from the top of the carb.  I didn't take the carb apart.

When I reassemble the engine, I put the jet/spring assembly back into the top and screwed on the cap.  Now the throttle is stuck full on.
Thanks in advance.

Answer
Don, inside the carb body is a little locating peg that matches the slot in the side of the throttle slide. You got it out of position and it is wide open at this moment.
Unscrew the top, check for any damage to the slide, look into the top of the carb, check the location of the locating pin and then reinstall the slide so the slot matches the locating pin.   You should be able to hear the throttle slide click down when you turn the throttle off and on and off.
