Motorcycle Repair: Honda Motor, honda engine, bob dennis

Question
Hi, Bill!

I have a Honda engine with the following serial number:  CA96E500450

Can you tell me what the applcation for this engine is and whether or not it's worth hanging on to?

Thanks,

Bob Dennis

Answer
Bob, that number is probably CA95E-500450, which is the 450th motor built for the last year of the CA95 Benly 150 touring.

Unless you are planning to get a matching bike for it and the condition is known to be good, you may just want to part it out or try selling it as a unit on Ebay. Unless the mileage was known and/or the compression was tested, it is hard to know how much is good inside and what would need rebuilding.
