Motorcycle Repair: 1982 Honda CM250 Part Number, honda cm250, salvage yard

Question

Good morning,

Yes, I am sure about the year and model (that's what the VIN says anyway).

Honda built the CM250 Custom (CM250C) for 2 years, 1982 and 1983.  After 1983, the CM250C was redesigned as the Rebel and redesignated as the CMX250.

Thanks!

Question -
Good morning,

I have '82 Honda CM250 Custom which is in bad need of a new headlight case.  I purchased one from a salvage yard (sight unseen...yes, bad me.  The origial (stock) is a plastic/nylon type of material and handles a 7" bulb.  The one I bought is made from stamped steel and holds a 5.5 inch bulb.  I'm trying to find out what bike the "new" one came from.  The only clue I have is what I beleive to be a part number stamped into the case.  The number is HM-24M-S.  I've tried to look up the number but have had no luck.  Is this actually the part number?  If not, can the part number be traced using the number stamped on the part?

Thanks!

Duane, are you sure on model and year ? there was only a cm200t built that year. as far as the part number , no it is not a valid honda part number and most likely the manufacturer number who were stamping them for honda. I will keep checking on that number but i havent found anything for a cross reference. let me know on that model and year and it might help.

im sorry i cant help you on finding the other headlight housing number and which bike it goes to. that would take more reference material than i have. the fiche i use here and the parts book i have have no reference to those numbers.
