Steering Column Repair: 1993 lumina lock cylinder, tilt unit, internal rack

I got to the store and the car wouldn't shut off,I've been having problems with it and want to replace the lock cylinder.It's tilt steering and I wondered how to get to it,I have the wheel off and I'm to the tilt unit.What now?

Lumina Rack gear (rac Hi Roger:
Unfortunately the internal rack gear has broken.  That's the gear the lock cylinder pushes up and down when you turn it.  I am enclosing a picture and link here.  the good news is we sell those.  the bad news is the column has to come out completely and the gear is installed from the bottom up after the mounting brackets are removed.  You don't need to go any further than removing the lock cylinder form the top end, but that happens after the new rack is installed.

We don;t have any video or instructions for that design yet, but maybe soon (although that won;t help you now.
