Motorcycle Repair: 95 Honda VLX 600 / Neutral Light, honda vlx 600, safety circuit

The neutal light does not come on while in neutral, as well as not being able to run the engine with the kickstand down.  The safety circuit seems to think it is in gear.  Is this an easy fix?

You could have some very annoying problems, but they are not insurmountable.

Because the neutral light will not come on, the safety switch will not allow the bike to run since the two switches are interconnected.  Both have to say "yes" for the engine to run.  Since the neutral light says "no" there is nothing to do about it but to find out why it isn't coming on.  Follow the instructions in the repair manual to access the switch.  It may have come loose or even failed.
