Motorcycle Repair: underpowered springer, drag pipes, mark couple

Hi Mike! I have a stock (except for samson straight pipes)1998 Heritage Springer with 12k miles. Weakest Harley ever been on. Not looking for a rocket bike, just tired of being left behind at every stoplight. Otherwise I like the bike. Is there anything I can do to pep it up without spending $2000-$3000? Everyone Ive talked to tells me something different.    Thanks, Mark

Couple of things you can do. First, replace the stock cam. I would go with an andrews EV27 cam. Change out the carb. I would go with a S&S carb for more flow. Last, replace the drag pipes. Drag pipes make you lose power. Go with a tuned exhaust. All the above should keep you under the $2000 mark
