Motorcycle Repair: Clutch, clutch springs, friction plates

Question
I have a 2000 Shadow Spirit.  It takes off fine but when shifting into 2nd thru 5th gear it wines as if the clutch is sticking, also on the highway traveling at about 55 mph if I try to speed up the engine/rpms go up and the bike gradually gain speed.  I took it to the shop and the repairman told me he replace the friction plates in clutch but it still doing the same thing.

Answer
Hi Barry,

A problem is present and needs to be identified and corrected.

The symptoms may have vanished with the new clutch parts. However, I suspect the source of the problem was not corrected.

I recommend returning to the shop and have the tech inspect the symptoms again.

Always replace clutch fiber plates, metal plates, and clutch springs as a set. Old parts will quickly wear new parts. Same with drive chains and sprockets.
