Hi. had one problem yesterday, and awoke with another. the battery is fully charged. But when I turn the key nothing happens, the dash lighs get dim. before I use to hear the starter relay click.  But now nothing. I've checked all fuses, there is power to the starter relay. by the way the bike is a 1995 zx9r

Answer
Hi Rick,

Get a copy of the service manual.

Test battery voltage and specific gravity. Recharge or replace the battery accordingly and try starting engine.

If the problem persists, perform electrical diagnosis to find the source of the problem.

I suspect a loose or corroded connection to be the cause. Check battery cable connections at all ends.

Check all electrical connectors that you can find or see. Separate and then reconnect them one at a time. Apply dielectric grease to connectors to help prevent water shorting and corrosion.

Check handlebar switches for corrosion, burned contacts, and defective wiring.

Check operation of ignition switch.

Trace voltage as necessary through suspected circuits.
