Motorcycle Repair: my 99 ninja, ninja zx6r, static sound

  I have a 1999 ninja zx6r that is making a sound that i could best describe as static sound. i have been told that spark knock is more like a pinging sound this is more like a static. the sound start to get loud at about 7000 rpms.

Hi Andrew.
 What you are describing sounds a lot like an insulation related short.
 Sometimes the insulation is overwhelmed and the proximity of an ignition wire is just a little too close to a grounded metal part of the frame or engine.  This will cause arcing, and could impede performance as well if it is bad enough.

 You need to check visually, for arcing.  You need to do this at night in an inlit area.  DO NOT do this in a darkened and enclosed Garage.  You will asphixiate yourself if you do.
