Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki Bandit 600 Tune Up, suzuki bandit 600, clutch adjustment

Question
I purchased my friends Bandit, which has been sitting for approximately 10 mos.  I want to take it to get tuned up and back in riding position.  The bike has never been dropped and has really low miles.  Exactly what needs to be done with fluids, spark plugs, engine, etc.  What should the average service cost?  I want the bike to be serviced well, but since I have no idea what needs to be done I don't want to pay for a lot of unneccesary work.

Answer
Hi Rodney,

Most tune-ups or complete service includes the following:

Oil & filter change
Valve clearance check & adjustment
Carburetor synchronization check & adjustment
Coolant change
Drive chain lube & adjustment/Final drive gear oil change
Clutch adjustment
Adjust & lube cables
Brake fluid change/cable adjustment
New spark plugs
New air filter
Check & service battery
Tire pressure & wear check
Steering head bearing check & adjust
Fork oil change

You should ask the shop staff what work is performed. Some shops may not perform all of the above listed work. They may charge extra for some listed work.

Parts may cost $100-200, labor may cost $100-200. Price varies sepending upon what is included in the service.

Respectfully,
