Motorcycle Repair: oil changes, yamaha motor, oil type

hi ,I just bought a 1988 Yamaha Trailways TW200,I want to do an oil change but dont know what weight of oil I should use, the old owner said it didnt matter,he used 5w30 in it, but that doesnt sound right to me,the bike has a slight rattle when it warms up like the oil might be too thin. your help would be greatly appreciated thanks.       Eddie

Refer to the Owner's Manual or Service Manual for the recommend oil type.

You may be able to see the Owner's Manual at Yamaha's website: "www.yamaha-motor.com" You'll have to navigate the site's menus a bit to locate the manual link.
