Hi,  I have a 2000 Yamaha V Star 1100.  It was starting up just fine until one day, there was a little drag when I was starting it, kind of like if the battery is low.  The next morning, when I went to start it, there was only the whine noise from the starter and the engine will not turn over.  I took the starter to a local starter place and they said the starter is fine.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

Test battery voltage and specific gravity. The battery may be weak or defective and unable to overcome cylinder compression.

Get a copy of the service manual and follow the illustrated troubleshooting procedures.
