Motorcycle Repair: Brake rotor, wingthings texas, brake rotor

Question
I think I have a major and expensive headache on my hands.  I started hearing a rubbing sound when I take off on my 2000 Goldwing.  Looking underneath at the rear what looks like a rotor (it is flat, wide, and shiny) is deeply pitted in many places.  Am I right in assuming that this is a rotor similar to a car and it is now beyond hope?  Any estimate on the cost to replace it and the brakes?

Answer
Hi Brad,

Yes, you're right about the rotor or disc.

Is it beyond repair? Maybe. Not many places around to turn MC rotors. One place in Cleveland, Ohio, but I don't have their contact information.

Check parts prices and view parts microfiche at "www.bikebandit.com" Also, check eBay for used parts.

Respectfully,
Mark Shively
