Motorcycle Repair: tranny plug, carb jets, dip stick, vance hines

Question
I was able to finally get the tranny plug out with an extractor. I was told that mine holds 22oz of fluid., 20 oz came out. Is the dip stick read with bike standing up and is stick screwed in all the way for the read? This is an s&s 113 but I am not sure of type of tranny only 5 speed. Also, I got my new vance & hines shortshots on today. The bike is running real rich with not much room to lean out. I am not sure right now what size jets are in there but will look at them tomorrow but s&s said that 32 intermidate & 74 main was a good starting point, my quess there is a 36 in there. Does this sould like a good starting point or do you have any suggestions. Sorry for all the questions but I am a newbee soaking up as much information as I can get right now as I love working on my bike. Thanks

Answer
Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner. Seems all experts was having trouble with their web site and I couldnt get on.
On the tranny. Read the dipstick with the bike standing upright.
The starting point that S&S gave you is correct. install the pipes and take the bike for a ride. See what the throttle responce is. If the bike spits through the carb, then you are to lean. If the bike kicks like it getting to much fuel then you are to rich
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
