Motorcycle Repair: Clutch problem on GSX-R1000, suzuki gsx r1000, clutch components

My brother has a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000 with a clutch problem. The cable snapped inside the shifting apparatus and my brother had to ride approximately 10 miles home with no clutch. He ordered a new clutch cable and replaced it and now the clutch will not disengage. It is like there is no cable there at all. He put everything back together the same way he took it apart. Could there be more of a problem than just the clutch cable? Please help!

Hi Jackie, it sounds like the problem is in the clutch basket. He will need to disassemble the clutch components and carefully inspect the plates for grooves on the tabs that engage the basket, he will probably find the problem right away.  thanks for asking
