Motorcycle Repair: clutch surge, clutch plates, local shop

i have 81 shovelhead last week clutch started surging when i stop with tran in 1 gear doesnt do always. also sometimes when i go into 1st bike will jump sometimes hard to go int 2nd local shop sugested a clutch tamer

What you need to do is remove your clutch plates and clean them. Over time the shovel clutch plates get sticky. Clean them with carb cleaner and let them dry completly. Install them and adjust the clutch and you should be fine.
