Audio Systems: 1998 lincoln navigator stock amplifier, lincoln navigator, high fidelity

Question
Do you know what the wattage of the stock sub amplifier is?

Answer
According to this wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Navigator

the total output power of the audio is 290 watts.

In high fidelity terms that equates to 145 real watts (car manufacturers usually give peak power which is twice the real power output).

And, it has the seven speaker output. If each amp were the same power level it would amount to about 20W per channel.  If the sub were equal in power out as the other amps then you could assume it to be around 20w for the sub amp.  Most car system designers like to put more power into the sub because bass music requires much harder drive. So, if the engineers followed the same rule that most other system engineers do they would put at least twice the power into the sub as the other speakers.  In which you would assume the sub in your Navigator would have a 40w amp driving the subwoofer.

Hope this helps.
