Motorcycle Repair: temperature gauge, honda cbr600, coolant pump

Question
I have a Honda CBR600 F-L(1990). When the bike is stationary or at slow speeds the temperarure gauge works fine,it gives a steady reading and it does increase as the engine gets warmer. However once i get any speed (50mph or above)the needle goes rapidly eratic and cant be read properly...i am new to biking please help if you can...

Answer
Pretty new stuff for me, even though it is 14 years old.

Could be "bad gauge", bad wiring to the gauge, bad temp sender, bad temp sender wiring, possible overvoltage in the circuit, either charging or regulating issues. I don't have any wiring diagrams to study on this type of problem.

Hopefully, you don't have any cooling system problems, like sticking thermostat, collapsing hoses, air pockets in the coolant passages or coolant pump problems to really worry about.

Find a manual with a wiring diagram and then trace the wires from the gauge back through the harness, looking for any kind of small voltage regulation modules or voltage sources that can be interrupted by vibration, heat or wiring that is not intact and tightly joined.
