Suzuki: Differential gear change, spider gears, stock gears

Question
I just bought 1986 suzuki samurai and it had been modified by having the differential gears welded together. I would like to put stock gears back in but my repair manual doesn't tell he how.

Answer
Usually, the spider gears are welded.  This usually consists of putting a weld bead in each spider gear so it can't rotate, thereby locking the differential on the cheap.
I just took the spider gears out to install lock-rite lockers, and have no further use for them, and you could probably use them.  This doesn't include the side gears, which were left in.
I know this sounds easy, and involves lots of time, but you withdraw the axles, remove the third member assembly, mark the position of the carrier bearing adjusters, and remove the differential.  Unbolt the ring gear, and remove the bolts that retain the end cap, push the shafts out, and then you can remove the spider gears, and inspect everything.
Reassembly is pretty much the reverse, but you should check the ring and pinion position with prussian blue.
Take it apart, and inspect, and then you'll know what parts you need.
