Motorcycle Repair: Put my bike (Yamaha Virago750..., drain tube, oem parts

Question
Put my bike (Yamaha Virago750 2001) away for winter in perfectly working conditions. Covered it according to the manual but it was kept outside all winter. Now i started it but noticed gas leaking from under the right side of the air filter. I took off air filter and noticed that it's leaking from one ruber tube that goes ...nowhere. It's very short rubber tube that has some sort of a filter before it. I tried to blow into that tube and it sounds that it goes back to the gas tank. I made bike work for 5 min and collected gas from that tube into the can. I hoped that problem will go away somehow :).
Exost is wite but too thick.
Please advise.

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Boris,

Sounds as if the fuel in the carbs may have varnished causing the float needle valves to stick open. This allows fuel to flown into the air box and crankcase.

The tube may be a gas tank vent or filler cap spill drain tube. Check and drain the air box drain tube, too.

A good indicator that the carbs are varnished is engine starts and runs on choke, but stalls when choke is turned off.
