Motorcycle Repair: rear disk brake adjustment, swift bar, hydraulic brakes

Question
what is up Chris, I own a swift bar chopper that I just took delivery of...it has sweet accutronix controls and I took her out for her maiden voyage and i realized that i literally have to press down on the rear brake pedal a full 90 degrees ( which seems way too much, and not comfortable)
is there a easy way to step up the rear brake sensitivity and adjust them without getting too crazy?
The dealer I bought it at is 2000 miles away

Answer
Hi Adam.

There are a couple of things that I have to ask first.

1)  How much brake fluid is in the master cylinder?

2)  Have you tried to bleed the brake system?

Hydraulic brakes are fairly foolroof and self adjusting as far as that goes.  If you are getting too much travel in the pedal, then those are the only things that could cause the problem.
Also, many transport companies, particularly if the vehicle was shipped by air, will not ship it with any fluids except engine oil in it.  This may have been the case and, naturally, the manufacturer and transport company "expect" you to know these things.

Check the fluid level and bleed the system.  Make sure that there are no high spots where air can get trapped in the system as well.

Check it out and let me know what you find.
Good luck.
