Motorcycle Repair: setting valves, flywheel alignment, compression stroke

Question
i have a dirtbike 96 honda 100 4stroke  how do you set the valves in it whats the way you do it  thank you

Answer
Gary.... The valves are checked with the piston at the T mark (compression stroke-valves are closed) on the flywheel alignment with the index mark. If you set them on the overlap stroke (both valves slightly open at the T mark which is 360 degrees from the compression stroke) then the valves will be REALLY loose on the compression stroke. Valve clearances are only .002," set when the engine is COLD.
Set them, turn the engine over one turn, check them again. They will be .002" loose on the compression stroke and all slightly open (no clearance) at the overlap stroke one turn beyond that.

Remember:
Intake/Compression/Power/Exhaust are the 4 strokes of the piston.
