Nissan Repair: Burning Oil

I have a 2002 Altima with 151000 miles and it has started using a lot oil recently. There are no leaks and no smoke indicating a problem. So I have add a quart or two almost every other week. My mechanic is baffled as to what the issue might be. Can you help me out here? Thanks

Hi Audie -

That is a lot of oil to be losing. Have you checked your cooling system to see if it is bleeding into that? On the heads the cooling system jacket and oil jacket are next to each other so there might be a break between them.

Question, even when you first start up in the morning, there is no smoke?
