Any more information you can get me the better. Remember I am not there to look at it, so the more info I get means a more accurate diagnosis.

What is the year of your vehicle? When you say it does not work, is it stuck at a certain position or does it work but give the wrong reading?

The fuel gauge sending unit is located in the fuel tank and is not serviceable, so most likely it will need to be replaced.
