QUESTION: always when I'm changing gears and take my foot off the throttle there is a delay of perhaps (1) second befor the revs start to drop why is this?

Is your check engine light on?
If so, I will need the OBD code that it displays

OK, then it is probably a mechanical issue. The first thing to check is the butterfly valve on the throttle body. Best way to clean this is to remove the throttle body open the valve and clean the deposits and build up where it meets the body. Check all linkage to ensure there is no binding. You may be able to do this with the throttle body on the vehicle, but if there are any blind areas, you must remove it.
