Toyota Repair: 93 Camry door lock, plastic hooks, wd 40

Question
I need to know to remove the driver door lock. I have already revoved the panel and when the screws are removed from the lockit still stays in place. Is it held in place by the locking and door handle levers? if these are removed can the lock then be slid out of place?

thanks

Answer
 Tom,

Not sure why you want to remove lock but if the key won't turn, spray
a generous amount of WD-40 in the lock from the outside, this has freed up a lot of locks on Toyotas for me over the years,(shove the red capillary on the WD-40 can into the key hole and spray, then pull it out and shove the key in and turn it back and forth several times).

To remove the lock; First remove the door panel on the inside,
there are 2 bolts holding the door handle on the door. You access
these 2 bolts from the inside with an extension on a rachet with a
10mm socket. One of the bolts you access through a round hole in the
door metal (hole is there for this purpose) once you have these
bolts out you go back to the outside of the door and pull the handle
out an inch or so, now you must unhook to plastic hooks on the door
lock, and release linkage. Then jockey the handle around and it will
come out with the lock on it. there is a bolt holding the lock
on. This is the easiest way to remove the lock.

Good luck, do it with patience.
