What is the best way to replace the starter on a 1999 Nissan Sentra GA16DE engine with automatic trans. The starter is located in the back of the engine beneath the intake manifold and is very difficult to get to.

Hi Lamont -

I have done many Nissan Sentra starters and yes, they are under the intake manifold. Unfortunately there is no shortcut to this, and you will have to work around the manifold. One starter mounting bolt can be removed from the top, and the other from underneath the engine.

One of these days they will think of mechanics when designing engines.
