Nissan Repair: 1986 300 zx non turbo, pressure and volume, fuel rail

Question
Car was running fine, fuel level was showing empty, filled up drove about 8 miles stopped.  When attempting to leave car had trouble starting and idled very rough, it loses power and dies while driving.   Could this be a fuel filter issue?

Answer
Hi Robert -

You are correct. Could be the filter collecting sediment. If you check fuel pressure and volume the the fuel rail or inlet in engine compartment, you should be able to tell if the filter is clogged.

Usually should get at least 35 PSI, and should fill 2 cups of fuel no longer than 5 seconds ignition on.

Hope this helps -
