Nissan Repair: 92 N14 Pulsar Wont start unless pumping throttle, air flow meter, crank angle sensor

Question
Hi,

I have a 92 Nissan Pulsar GA16 that has become very hard to start.
I have to crank it for approx 30 seconds while pumping the throttle about 30 times (has to be pumped, It wont start if you dont pump the throttle or if you just hold the pedal to the floor)
Once started it runs fine with no missing or flatspots.
It has also started stalling alot but only on downshifting.
Here is a list of what i have changed with no difference:

- Fuel Filter
- Spark Plugs
- Oil
- Oil Filter
- Fuel Pressure Reg
- Air Filter
- Coolant Temp Sensor
- Oil Pressure Sender
- Timing Chain Tensioner
- Air Flow Meter

Please help?????

I only think it could be TPS, The Fuel pump itself or the Crank Angle Sensor.

Thanks in advance, James

Answer
Hi James -

If there is no check engine light on, then I would check the cold start valve. This is connected to the throttle body and it injects fuel into the intake when starting. If you shoot starting fluid into the intake prior to starting, and it starts right up, this is probably what is wrong.

Hope this helps -
