Nissan Repair: Rattling Sound, double wall construction, nissan 350z

Question
Morning, I recently purchased a nissan 350z 2007 and loving it, however when the car is idle and the clutch out at traffic lights for example, there is a rattling noise which goes when i put the clutch in. Also the rattling is present when the revs are lower than 2.5k revs when accelerating. Any ideas what this could be ?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Mike -

A lot of times this comes from the exhaust. Being of double wall construction, sometimes the inner wall deteriorates, so it hits against the outer wall. It is undetectable because you cannot see it. Best way to check this is to get a rubber mallet and start hitting different areas of the exhaust pipe, mostly near the front. If you hear that same rattle, then replace the pipe.

Hope this helps -
