Nissan Repair: nissan truck problems, fuel pressure regulator, mass airflow sensor

Question
QUESTION: My Nissan truck started missing badly and will barely accelerate, but it idles fine. we already replaced the feul pump, distributor cap and rotor, plugs, and plug wires. This did not fix the problem. do you have any idea what could be the problem?

ANSWER: James,

I need to know what year and engine to be sure.  From what you say I would be looking at the distributor as the shaft seal has probably blown if it is an older Nissan.  If yours has a carburetor check the power valve.

QUESTION: It is a 1995 Nissan xe hardbody 3.0 liter V6 and it is fuel injected.

ANSWER: James,

Sorry to take so long getting back to you.  I had to fly to Florida to pickup my brother's personal goods.  He died and I moved his son and wife back to Las Vegas.  On your truck I would say either the fuel pressure regulator has failed or the mass airflow sensor has taken a dump.  Get a Haynes Manual and a digital volt ohm meter to check it.  $20 bucks for a manual and another $20 for the meter.

QUESTION: sorry to hear about that. i appreciate your help I've been told it could be the sensor but then i was told if it was the sensor the engine light should be on, and it isn't. i have been told that it could either be the ignition coil or the distributor, what do you think about that?

Answer
James,

The idle air control valve can be defective without setting a code.  This is a Nissan original?  It sucks but it needs to be checked.  These are expensive and I would not want to tell you to replace it until it is checked.  Another issue is that the converter could be plugged on the exhaust.  An exhaust shop can let you know by checking it.
