Nissan Repair: Nissan March - Intermittently the engine screams, nissan march, transmission pan

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2002 Nissan March, conventional automatic (not belt drive) that has done 114,000km.A few time a week (3-4) while driving at low speeds (40km/hr) the engine suddenly revs highly for about 1 to 2 minutes while continuing at the same speed (if you increase the accelerator there is no change in speed)then the problem corrects itself or I stop and restart. Sometimes the problem occurs on minor inclines. I've had the car to an automatic garage and had the electronic nodes read, but nothing shows up.Automatic oil seems OK. I suspect its a transmission problem but maybe something else? These are such definite characteristics that I'm sure someone else has had this problem. Can you help me?

ANSWER: Dennis,

It is the transmission that is slipping.  But, not showing up on the codes.  You probably have an electronic servo allowing pressure to drop causing the clutches to slip.  It is going to take the transmission guy to be in the vehicle when it happens to diagnose.

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply, but because I'm not that mechanical I don't understand what you mean when you say "you probably have an electronic servo.... ".
Do you think its a major to repair? (ie.like take the transmission out of the car)or something more simple like an electronic repair without dismantling the transmission?
Because its only intermittent, would there be any problem with me continuing to drive the car until it becomes more apparent?

Answer
Dennis,

Yes, a transmission shop will have to remove the transmission pan and inspect the electronic servos, the electrical valves that allow the car to shift gears, via computer input.  You could drive the car until it will not shift since it is going to cost you the same either way.  And, after it breaks hard they will be able to diagnose it for sure.
