Nissan Repair: brake switch 02 xterra, brake switch, cruise control

Question
Of the 2 switches, how do you get the one out that is behind a plate? I only have a third brake light which must be controlled by the switch that is easier to access. Thank you in advance!

There is only one switch for the back brake lights.  You have a conenctor or a fuse that is defective and not the switch.  That is, if you say the high mount brake light works.  Probably someone has messed with the trailer connector at the back of the vehicle.  The other switch is to stop the cruise control.
