Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Primera Si, nissan cars, frontal damage

Question
I have inherited a crashed Nissan Primera Si. It has frontal damage, and I have straightened it all out and repaired all the damage, but have one final problem to overcome: the speedo and  tacho are 'frozen' at 85kph and 2300 rpm. Also the gauges, and digital displays don't work when the ignition is turned on. Everything else on the dashboard appears to work correctly. I think perhaps the frontal impact has dislodged a connection or a PCB connector, and was wondering if you could recommend a central point to start to look for to fix this problem.
Thanks very much for your time

Answer
Nick,

Pull the cluster and check the connection.  Nissan cars have an issue with the connector and it is probably corroded or dislodged.  The reason I say this is the tach and speedometer are connected at different locations as are the gauges.  Pull the cluster and check the connection and email me back with what you find.
