Nissan Repair: Temp Control, local wrecking yards, vintage nissan

Question
I have a 95 maxima. The a/c controls have been giving me problems. From what I remember from last summer once the A/C was on for a few minutes it would freeze at that setting. I would not be able to switch until I had turned of the car and then waited a significant amount of time before restarting the engine. If I would start it up too soon the LED light wouldn't even turn on. Over the winter I was able to change the settings most of the time even after driving for a while with it set on a specific setting. It turned hot again recently and until today I was able to play with the settings even after they were set. Today it keeps getting stuck like last year. Also the compressor wont turn on unless I hit the AUTO button & I know this is a new problem as it didn't happen last year. Please let me know what you think the source of the problem is. Thanx,
ELI

Answer
Eli,

The control panel that you have to mess with also contains a computer board behind it.  It is all inclusive and needs to be replaced.  This is a common problem on this vintage Nissan.  I would check out the local wrecking yards for one or surf on-line for a replacement.
