Nissan Repair: Stereo, nissan maxima, rubber band

Question
QUESTION: My CD player stoped working and every now and then it will read a CD but not often. Why is my player doing this? And how do I fix it?

ANSWER: Hi Chris -

I did not get the year and make of your car or whether this is a factory install or aftermarket.

However, most CD players are run by a small motor and rubber band like belts. Eventually the belt gets stretched or broken from use, and nothing will work. The player needs to be removed and probably the belt needs replacement.

You might want to also explore the cost of a new player, sometimes for a few dollars more than a repair, you can be hooked up to a new player.

QUESTION: Ok my 1996 Nissan Maxima comes with a factory Bose sound system and if I purchase a new stereo and have it installed will it change the sound in my car ? And how do I know if the new stereo is able to fit my car?

Answer
Hi Chris -

Go to a place that specializes in automobile sound systems. I don't know where you live, but they usually have them all over the place. If you do not want to pay them to install, at least they will recommend a brand and model to buy to fit your car.

I don't know what you mean by changing the sound in your car, but because you are replacing the stereo not the speakers, it should sound the same.
