Nissan Repair: Nissan VG30E, crankshaft pulley, hash mark

Question
1994 Pathfinder - Engine suddenly lost power, very slow acceleration, would not exceed 50 mph and idle dropped to just barely running. Advanced distributor and idle went back to normal, increased acceleration and could maintain highway speeds - +80 mph. Engine runs smooth, no misfire but acceleration and power are still lacking a bit. If crankshaft pulley is clock with timing marker at 12, now pulley timing marks are at approximately 10. Advanced 45*? What has happened?

Answer
Hi Mihajlo -

Looks like your timing belt skipped.
Is your vehicle automatic or manual shift?

Quick check is to set the engine at TDC (turn damper until hash mark lines up with TDC on the timing cover). Open distributor cap and rotor should be pointing exactly at the #1 tower of the distributor.

Let me know -
