Nissan Repair: RB25 neo, nissan rb25det, cam follower

Question
QUESTION: Hi there, i'm trying to find out what the valve clearances are for a Nissan RB25det neo engine, I have searched on google and they have all gone off topic about aftermarket cams.  Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks

ANSWER: Nigel,

It should be .015 on the exhaust and .012 on the exhaust.  Check under the hood and see what they say first.

QUESTION: Hi again,  I've had a look under the hood but can not find any indication, you've got .015" and .012" but saying that they are both for the exhaust.  Do you know if these are the same as rb26 where the exhaust is tighter or are they conventional where the inlet is tighter. Thanks again.

Answer
Nigel,

Sorry, the day job is a bit long and I do this as a service.  The .015 would be exhaust and the intake would be .012

However, if you have a stock motor they should be hydraulic and not require adjustment.  There should be zero lash with a warm engine.  That is, run the engine and then pull the valve cover and get feeler gauge and see what you have.  If a lobe is worn off or a lifter (cam follower) is collapsed there will be lots of clearance and you have found the source of your tick.  I did not know the origin behind the question but I would suppose you are looking because the engine is ticking?  Email me back and let me know.
