Nissan Repair: 97 Q45t, infinitihelp, computer failure

Question
yes sir; we have a 97 Infinity Q45T and the starter was replaced, after that the A/AC control head quit working. i replaced the control head with a brand new one and it will not even light up to do a diagnostic check with it. i have checked all the power and ground points as per All Data instruction, and they all check out, but still no led from the head unit. any suggestion on what changing the starter could have in common with this unit to quit working?

Answer
Dennis,

The starter replacement should have had nothing to do with the A/C control unit.  You need to remove the control head and check for power.  Not the light power but the power that feeds the unit from the computer.  My guess is that yours has a computer failure since the 1997 does not have an integrated unit.  There is a relay that powers the head unit and if that is defective that could be the source of the problem.  I will assume you checked the master fuses and fuse links.  The following are some excellent technical sites for your car.
