Nissan Repair: Synthetic oil, 10w30, synthetic oil

Question
Calvin, what is your opinion about synthetic oil? I have a 94 Maxima with 217K miles that runs very good and is not using oil.  Since I've had it (about 40K miles ago) I've only used Castrol 10W30, changing it like clockwork at 3000 miles.

Answer
Hi Tony -

In my opinion, synthetic is the way to go. As compared to regular oil, it has greater surface lubrication, cooling properties, and it lasts 3 times a long keeping these traits. In the long run it may also save some fuel, as the engine will run with less drag.

Hope this helps -
