Nissan Repair: 1999 nissan quest, nissan quest, code scanner

Question

Subject:  1999 nissan quest
Question:    QUESTION: i have a 1999 nissan quest and after driving for approximately 18 miles it starts skipping and idling erractic, when i let it set and cool down it will drive fine until it warms up again.  I change the spark plugs and wire and rotor button, and i also change the fuel filter.  Someone suggested that the fuel pump maybe bad.  I took it to Advance and the code scanner stated that knock sensor and the cam position sensor. What do you think about it

Answer
Bernard,

The knock sensor will retard timing and really mess up performance.  The cam position sensor will make the injectors fire at the wrong time and cause the skipping and bad idle.  Replace both and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for five minutes to really clear the codes.  It will take thre times of driving to get the memory back in order and then it should run great.
